Penny Elizabeth Foster Calhoun

Mrs. Penny Elizabeth Foster Calhoun, 64, of Grove Street, Cooleemee, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

She was born Oct. 7, 1954 in Iredell County. She was a graduate of Davie High School, Class of 1972, and Rowan Cabarrus Community College in 1974. She attended The Church at Camp Manna in Cooleemee. She was a military wife for 8 years.  She was a registered nurse with outpatient surgery at Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center.  She enjoyed camping in the mountains, traveling, music, crafts, everything about the beach and spending time with her family.  She cherished her granddaughter, and the time she got to spend with her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Spencer “Penny” Foster; and her stepfather, Nathan Gordon Archer.

Survivors: her husband of 37 years, George S. Calhoun of the home; 2 children, Tara Wilkinson (Josh) and Benjamin Calhoun, all of Mocksville; a granddaughter, Rebecca Wilkinson; her mother, Dorothy Archer of Cooleemee; a “sister,” Susan McClary; a “brother,” Les Steele; and numerous cousins, friends and co-workers.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26 at Camp Manna with the Rev. Stan Riddle officiating. Entombment will follow in Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25 at Eaton Funeral Home in Mocksville.
