Jose Melendez-Hernandez, 42, died on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 at his residence in Mocksville.

He was born in Mexico on April 15, 1976, the son of Josefina Amaro-Sanchez, who survives, and the late Bonifacio Hernandez-Salinas.

For the past 18-19 years, he had worked as a concrete laborer in the construction industry. He attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Mocksville.

Also surviving: 2 sons, Jovanni and Jair Hernandez; 2 daughters, Jennifer and Jasmine Hernandez; and 3 sisters, Maria Felix Hernandez-Amaro of Mocksville, Virginia Hernandez-Amaro and Adele Hernandez-Amaro.

The visitation with family and friends was Sunday, Jan. 13 from 6-1 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial was conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church officiated by the Rev. Father Eric L. Kowalski. Burial followed in the Rose Cemetery.
