Fall has officially started for Special Olympics Davie County.
On Saturday, Oct. 6, SODC held its annual Pumpkin Carving Party for athletes and their families. Athletes uniquely decorated and carved pumpkins with a variety of themes, ranging from sports teams to Dia De Los Muertos.
Attendees were also treated to a hotdog and dessert lunch, courtesy of Davie Civitans. The event marks the first gathering for athletes after a break from athletics over the summer.
Athletes are training for roller skating, tennis and golf (bocce to start soon) and will compete at the Special Olympics North Carolina Fall Tournament in November.
