4 face drug charges in Operation Thunderstruck

On Sept. 7, as part of Operation Thunderstruck, Davie County Sheriff’s Department officers conducted a traffic stop and executed a search warrant at 151 M&D Lane, Mocksville.

During the traffic stop and search warrant officers seized heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, buprenorphine, flexiril, kadium, tramadol, oxycontin, hydrocodone, and amphetamine.

Officers also located several pills, powders, and items resembling candy that were packaged similar to known narcotics for sale.  Those items will be sent to a lab for testing to determine if any controlled substances are present.

The following were arrested:

• Kathryn Lynn Casstevens, 43, 151 M&D Lane Mocksville, charged with felony maintaining a vehicl/dwelling/place for controlled substances, $3,500 bond.

• MaryAnn Smith, 42, of 151 M&D Lane, charged with possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver heroin, possess heroin, possess methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, possess drug paraphernalia, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances, simple possession schedule III controlled substance, possess marijuana paraphernalia, and possess marijuana up to ½ ounce.  Smith was given a $50,000 bond.

• Lee Arthur Reich, 62, of 151 M&D Lane, charged with possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver heroin, possess heroin, possess methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, possess drug paraphernalia, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances, simple possession schedule III controlled substance, possess marijuana paraphernalia, and possess marijuana up to ½ ounce.  Reich was given a $75,000 bond.

• Tabitha Denise Whitman, 38, of 139 Jessica Trail, Advance, charged with trafficking in opiates by possession, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver Schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver Schedule III controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver Schedule IV controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver Schedule VI, possession of Schedule I controlled substance, possession of Schedule II controlled substance, possession of Schedule III controlled substance, possession of Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of Schedule VI controlled substance, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, felony maintaining a veh/dwell/place for controlled substances.  Whitman was given a $500,000 bond.

Operation Thunderstruck began in June and is targeting dealers of heroin, opiates, methamphetamine, and cocaine that sell in Davie County as well as to residents of Davie from surrounding areas.

“This investigation highlights the invaluable resource that members of the community can provide to law enforcement as the investigation began with complaints of suspicious activity from citizens in the county,” said Sheriff J.D. Hartman.

To date, the investigation has resulted in the arrest of seven individuals selling narcotics in Davie County with more arrests expected.
