Homer Lee ‘Cornbread’ Leonard Jr.

Homer Lee “Cornbread” Leonard Jr., 83, died on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Born Dec. 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Homer Lee Leonard Sr. and Jonnie Lee Everhart Leonard. He was the widower of Margaret Pauline McCrary Leonard who died in 2002 after 41 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Thomas, Frank, Fred and Benny Leonard.

He worked many years in the transportation industry as a truck driver. He attended the Mocksville Church of God.

Survivors: 2 sons, Toney Lee Leonard (Patricia) and Thomas Allen Leonard (Julia), all of Mocksville; 2 daughters, Janice Curtiss (Greg) of Lexington and Debbie Bledsoe of Salisbury; 2 sisters, Carolyn Presnell and Leona Leonard, both of Lexington; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, July 3, at Davie Funeral Chapel. The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Gamble officiating. He was buried in Legion Memorial Park in Cooleemee.
