David Franklin ‘Mody’ Hancock

Mr. David Franklin “Mody” Hancock, 85, of Gladstone Road, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at NC Veterans Home in Salisbury.
He was born Dec. 24, 1931, in Davie County to the late John Pruitt and Mary Kiger Hancock. Mr. Hancock retired after 21 years of serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as well. Mr. Hancock was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. He was a member of Cooleemee Civitan Club and American Legion Post 54. Mr. Hancock was a golfer and loved baseball and hunting. He was a tender-hearted man who loved his community.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anne Nolley Hancock; a grandson, Josh; 4 sisters; and 4 brothers.
Survivors include a son, J. Mark Hancock (Robin) f Mocksville; a brother-in-law, Ed Nolley (Jean) of Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 16, at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stan Riddle officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery.
