Mary Rodwell Holman, 84, died on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 at Novant Health Center in Salisbury following an extended illness.

She was born Jan. 20, 1933, in Davie County to the late Joshua Cornelius and Ruby Gaither Holman. She attended Davie County schools and later moved to Long Island, N.Y., Queens County. She did domestic work, and furthered her education and became a switchboard operator and copier at Bloomberg Mills, Inc., where she worked until her health failed. She returned to North Carolina earlier this year.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Keith Holman; a brother; and 6 sisters.

Survivors: a daughter, Ramona Karen Holman of New York City; and 2 grandchildren, Phillip Holman and Equiano Holman; 3 great-grandchildren, DiaMonte Scoggins, McKayla Holman, and Daniel Holman; 2 sisters, Edmonia Hollis of Mocksville and Nellie Ramsue of Salisbury; other nieces nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 6 at 3:30 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home in Mocksville. Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery in Mocksville. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the funeral home.
