Mildred Elizabeth Link McSwaim

Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Link McSwain, 96, formerly of Guinevere Lane, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Autumn Care of Mocksville.

She was born Nov. 11, 1920 in Davie County to the late William Davidson and Lola Ann Munday Link. Mrs. McSwain had been a member of Community Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, was an amazing cook and a reader. Most of all, she loved spending time with family.

She was also preceded in death by: her husband, Richard James McSwain Sr.; 2 sons, William “Poss” McSwain and Charlie McSwain; 3 grandsons, Bobby Carter, Terry Carter and Brad Sheets; and 8 siblings.

Survivors: 2 children, Richard “Buck” McSwain Jr. and Joyce Carter, both of Mocksville; 8 grandchildren, Darrell Setzer, Wanda Paolino, Jean Sheets (Steve), Dean McSwain (Mary), Dawn Allen (David), Jimmy Carter, Donna Overcash (Tim) and Cathy Henderson (Ken); many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Ruth McSwain of Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rob Waugh officiating. Burial will follow in Legion Memorial Park in Cooleemee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
