Addie Audrey Carson Petteway

Mrs. Addie Audrey Carson Petteway 82, died Tuesday Sept. 19, 2017 at the Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington.

She was born March 18, 1935 in Davie County, she was the daughter of the late Adam Carson and Addie Young Carson. She was educated in the public schools of Davie County and attended Post College, Waterbury, Conn. She retired from New Opportunities of Waterbury, where she served as a social worker. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Waterbury,C and upon relocating to North Carolina, she started attending New Bethel Baptist Church, Mocksville and she volunteered with the Democratic Party.

She was preceeded in death by: her husband, Belton E. Petteway Sr.; sister, Elizabeth Feamster; brothers, James Henry Cowan, Adam Lincoln Carson Sr., Richard Carson, Johnny Carson.

Survivors: her children, Belton Eugene Petteway Jr. (Myrna) of Lexington, Todd Anthony Petteway (Leah) of  Virginia Beach, Va., Keyatta Petteway of Mocksville; Terry Brown (Cathy) of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Ezell Pat Carson of Mocksville; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at New Bethel Baptist Church, Mocksville. Visitation is at noon and the funeral at 1 p.m. with the burial following at Mt.Sinai AME Zion Church Cemetery, 488 Peoples Creek Rd. Advance, with the Rev. John Bankhead, officiating and the Rev. Dr. Audie Simon as eulogist.
