YVEDDI Public Transportation will host a public awareness meeting to discuss the proposed “Mocksville Circulator” route.

The meeting will be drop-in style and anyone interested is welcome to view the proposed route and get more information. The meeting will be on Aug. 31, 4-6 p.m. at the Davie County Public Library, 371 N. Main St., Mocksville.

The route will provide a public transportation route with scheduled stops including the downtown area, Wal-Mart, the community college, apartment complexes, businesses, employment centers, shopping centers, government centers, medical centers, and the Senior Center.

While the route has defined stops where a passenger may walk up and board the bus for a $1 fare, anyone within a three quarter mile area may call dispatch and the bus will deviate to pick them up.  The route is scheduled to begin on Oct. 2 and will operate from 6 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday.

YVEDDI Public Transportation is designated as the lead transportation agency for the area. YVEDDI intends to use a combination of local, state and federal funds along with rider contributions to fund the route.
