Mrs. Gloria Ann Birtwell Bantekas, 83, of Jack Booe Road, Mocksville, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at her home.

She was born Jan. 21, 1934 in Berkshire County, Mass.  to the late Oliver and Ann Ellen Hughes Birtwell. Mrs. Bantekas was originally from Pittsfield, Mass. but spent more than 50 years in the greater Atlanta area before moving to Mocksville with her daughter.  She loved animals, especially cats. Mrs. Bantekas was a founding member and longtime volunteer of Tiny Stitches in Atlanta. She was an election poll volunteer for the last 10 years. Mrs. Bantekas was a phenomenal seamstress, cook, wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors: her husband of 58 years, Eugene Joseph Bantekas of the home; 3 children, Karen Bantekas Blakley (Tony Jr.) of Mocksville, Susan Bantekas Egolf (Chris) of Parker, Colo. and Lori Bantekas (Chris Lundberg) of Victor, Idaho; and 5 grandchildren, Troy Alexander Blakley, Jourdan Victoria Blakley, Mckenna Reid Egolf, Jack Oliver Egolf and Samuel Owen Egolf.
