Mr. John William “Bill” Holder, 87, of Winston-Salem, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 21, 1929 in Forsyth County. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and retired from Roadway Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clinton Holder and Viola Fulp Holder; his wife, Mildred Burton Holder; and his son, William Keith Holder.

Surviving: his daughter, Karen Jones and husband Gary of Advance; 2 grandchildren, Shannon Powell and husband Brad of Olin and Gary Bradley Jones of Advance; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Jones.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Marilyn Weiler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
