Mr. Leroy Steele, 83, of Harmony, died on the morning of July 6, 2017, with his wife, son and daughter at his bedside at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1933, to the late Augustus and Zora C Steele. He was educated in the Iredell County School System. He worked for employers as an auto mechanic, including Carl Daniels Garage, Cliff Stack Garage, Holly Farms and Tyson Chicken.

Survivors: his wife of 56 years, Janet Elaine Dalton; a son, Darren; a daughter,  FeLisa (Leon) Simington; 3 sisters, Martha Allison, Lois Winfred and Ruby Lucas; 5 brothers, Charles Steele, Dallas (Irene) Steele, John P (Dorothy) Steele, Jimmy (Elaine) Steele, Clarence Steele; a sister-in-law, Betty Redmon; a host of nieces, nephews; and the Mount Nebo Baptist Church family.

His funeral service was held on Sunday, July 9 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Nebo in Harmony. The Rev. Sylvester Reed officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.  The family received friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.
