End of school year a fun time

The last school week for Cooleemee Elementary didn’t end without a lot of fun.

Field day  at Camp Manna, awards day with a Oscar night out for the theme that included red carpet, interviews and formal wear and the last day included pies in the face and sending off the fifth graders to middle school in style.

Field day lasted all day with sack races, Hula-Hoops, kickball toss, hurdles and more.

Camp Manna had a huge slide this year and boy did everyone have a slip sliding time.

Awards day was full of awards, awards and more awards. Each student walked down a red carpet to receive their award and then grouped on stairs for a photo. Handmade Oscar statues were constructed which gave an added touch to the theme.

Students who reached or surpassed reading level goals got a chance to throw a Cool Whip pie at the teacher of their choice and hopefully land it in their face. This is always an anticipated event each year.

As the last minutes ticked away, all students and teachers lined up on each side of the sidewalk and the fifth graders come out to leave the school one last time.

As the students load their buses in the back of the parking lot, the busses drove around in three circles while good byes were being shouted from the sidewalk and from the buses. Arms were swaying, tears were streaming and excitement was in the air.

Soon, everything got quiet and that’s when reality hit, the 2016-2017 school year was done.

Everyone returning to Cooleemee School in the fall have a great safe summer so you can return back and make more precious memories. Can’t wait to see what the teachers have in store for you.
