Mocksville Police are looking for a man who robbed the BB&T on Yadkinville Road at about 10:30 Monday morning.

Police Chief Todd Penley said the suspect entered the bank and told a teller he had a weapon and demanded money. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect ran toward McDonald’s, across Koontz Road from the bank. He is described as a thin black male wearing black jeans, a black coat and a red hat.

Investigators spent much of the day interviewing a suspect, who according to Penley, happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

That man, who was leaving the McDonald’s area about the time of the robbery, was very cooperative, as was the trucking company he worked for, Penley said. After being contacted by police, he drove 45 minutes back to Mocksville for the interview. Investigators determined he had nothing to do with the robbery.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Major P.A. Reagan at 336-753-6710.
