Mr. Michael Andrew “Andy” Barnhardt, 60, of Barnhardt Lane, Advance, died Friday, April 21, 2017, at his home.
He was born July 4, 1956, in Davie County to Ann Wilson Barnhardt and the late James Billy Barnhardt. He was a wonderful and loving husband, exceptional father, dedicated and hardworking, and a friend. His love of family was first. His other passions were hauling feed in his Peterbilt. Although it was his job, it was what he loved to do. He was involved in farming all his life. He was up in the wee hours of the morning to get started and worked until dark most days. In his extra time he tended his cows, mowed hay, raised crops and maintained the farm. He also loved to pull his antique tractors he had built and was proud of them. He was happiest when he was tractor pulling with his family and friends. He made time for trips such as the National Farm Show in Kentucky and fishing trips to Kure Beach in the fall. He was a member of Advance Masonic Lodge 710. To the end of his life his main concern was that his family was taken care of.
He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Michael Steven Boger Jr.
Survivors: his wife of 31 years, Gail W. Barnhardt of the home; a son, Adam Barnhardt (Emily) of Advance; his mother of Mocksville; an aunt, Virginia Dare Foster of Advance; 4 siblings, Vickie Shaw (Kelly) of Mocksville, Melissa Smith (Paige) of Lewisville, Matt Barnhardt (Lorraine) of Fayetteville and Christy Barnhardt of Jamestown; sister-in-law, Sharon Short (Mike); brother-in-law, Steve Westmoreland (Pat); nephew, Chad Boger (Brett); several other nieces and nephews; and his dogs, Diesel and Lily.
