Connie Ann Wilkinson Young, 74, died on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 following a period of declining health.

She was a native of Bancroft, W.Va., born Nov. 26, 1942, the daughter of the late Gordon E. and Lena Margaret McClanahan Wilkinson. She was a graduate of Poca High School and completed lab technician training at Herbert J. Thomas Memorial Hospital (W.Va.). She retired as a certified histotechnologist with the VA Hospital in Salisbury in 1995. She enjoyed reading and working puzzles, but her greatest love was spending time with family. She had been active in church where she sang in the choir and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Society Baptist Church.

Survivors: her husband of almost 55 years, Clark Edwin Young; 3 daughters, Beth McClure (Cisco Tejada-Diaz) of Mocksville, Kristan Young of Salisbury and Judith Ann Young Lowtharpe (Latney) of Cool Springs; a sister, Judith P. Bailey, of Poca, W.Va.;  7 grandchildren, Aaron Cauble (Leigha), Jeremiah McClure, Megan Cauble, Meredith-Ann Sweatman, Jose` Tejada, Clint Sweatman, and Gracey Lowtharpe; 4 great-grandchildren, Hayes Cauble, Asher Cauble, Anniston Grannaman, Penelope Tejada, and one “on-the-way” (Cauble).

The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 at Davie Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life service will follow in the chapel at 3 p.m., officiated by Pastors Jeff Holder and Glenn Sellers.Burial will be in the Society Baptist Church Cemetery.
