Jesse Marshall Clawson

Jesse Marshall Clawson, 84, of Clemmons, died at his home surrounded by his family on Feb. 3, 2017.

He was born on June 15, 1932 to Claude Clawson and Nettie Hepler Clawson of Cooleemee.

Survivors: his wife of 65 years, Peggy Cornatzer Clawson; his 3 daughters, Debra Garry, Cathy Pope (Michael), Marsha Johnson (Joe); 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nell Lagle; 2 brother-in-laws, Eugene Cornatzer and Glenn Cornatzer; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Buddy.

Mr. Clawson honorably served in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves. He retired from Spector-Red Ball trucking and also worked in maintenance at Blumenthal Jewish Home. He was a founding member of Friends Baptist Church in Clemmons, and was a member of the Clemmons Lions Club.  He enjoyed bowling and working in his yard and faithfully attended his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sports and events.

A celebration of Mr. Clawson’s life was held on Monday, Feb. 6 at Friends Baptist Church in Clemmons. Visitation began at 1 p.m., with the formal celebration beginning at 2. Burial  followed at Westlawn Memorial Gardens in Clemmons.
