King march, ceremony Monday

The Annual Martin Luther King Celebration will be held Monday, Jan. 16 at noon at the Town Square and continuing at New Life Apostolic Church, 538 Campbell Road, Mocksville.

Transportation will be available so participants can walk or ride the 1.5 miles to the church or join in along the route. The program will begin at 1 p.m. The Rev. Paul Milton, pastor of Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point, will be the speaker.

Local musicians will also take part.

Milton is a graduate of Guilford County Schools, A&T State University and Duke Divinity School with a master’s of divinity degree. He has served churches in Randolph, Guilford and Davidson counties before his appointment to Memorial in July, 2013.

He has served as vice president of the Western N.C. Conference board of trustees, past president of the Lexington City Human Relations Commission. He received the NAACP Crump award.

He serves on the board at Macedonia Family Resource Center, Volunteers in Schools, and is active in ministerial groups.
