Donna M. Bishop

Donna M. Bishop age 72, of Frankfort, Ky. died early Friday morning, Dec. 16, 2016 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center In-Care Hospice surrounded by her family.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1944 a daughter to the late William Joseph and Catherine (Burto) Mushtare. She was a 1962  Carthage High School graduate from West Carthage, N.Y. That year on Oct. 20, she married the love of her life Richard K. Bishop and they had 54 years together.  They lived in upstate New York for 10 years before moving with their two small children to Canton, Pa. in 1972 where they made their home for several years.  They had many friends and enjoyed raising their kids in a small town.  They were long-time members of St. Johns United Methodist Church Grover, Pa.  She began her career in textiles at ASL in Troy, Pa. in 1974 where she started as a weaver and became supervisor.  After working at the Troy plant for 21 years, they closed the doors. She transferred to the plant in  Hillsville, Va. in 1995 for a short time and later transferred to the plant in Canton, where her 20-plus year  career ended in 1996 when it was closed. She then went on to work for Square D Manufacturing in Asheville, and worked as an assembler for seven years. She was also Square D’s ambassador for the United Way campaign year for 2003. She and Richard moved to Advance in the Spring of 2004 to be near their granddaughter Caitlyn. They became members at Center United Methodist Church Mocksville.  In February of 2014 they made their last move to Kentucky. She enjoyed shopping, going to the movies, traveling, especially to Myrtle Beach, cooking, and her chocolate chip cookies were awesome. She always loved cooking for other people, watching her kids play sports and most recently, watching her granddaughter Caitlyn play softball. She loved Caitlyn and was proud of her academic and athletic achievements.   She was a football fan of the Buffalo Bills. In the late 80s the family enjoyed trips to Rich Stadium to watch them play. She also enjoyed their pet dog Leon who was by her side 24/7.  She was a woman of God with a kind spirit.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and was an inspiration to others with her positive attitude and strong will to figh . She will be remembered for her infectious smile and touching lives in a positive way.

Survivors: her husband  of 54 years, Richard; her children, Richard L. Bishop and wife Chantelle and step-children Alexia and Azion Shelton of Frankfort, Ky.;  Dawn Sechrist (Ronald) and granddaughter Caitlyn of Advance;  brothers,  Robert (Marian) Mushtare of Edmond, Okla. and Gary (Janet) Mushtare of Rochester, N.Y. ;  step-brother Ronald and (Dale) McNeil of Midlothian, Va. ; step-brother Richard McNeil of Jacksonville; brother-in-law Wayne (Kathy) Bishop of Spragueville, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Donald (Janice) Bishop of South Hampton, Mass.; sister-in-law Jan Neuroth of Gouveneur, N.Y.; sister-in-law Evelyn Wanamaker of Summerville, S.C.; Uncle Moses of Lowville, N.Y.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by parents William and Catherine; niece Cathy Mushtare; step-parents Lewis and Elizabeth Rowley; mother and father-in-law Richard and Mable Bishop; brother-in-law Donald Neuroth; brother-in-law Ernie Bishop and his wife Janice.

Donna’s wishes were to be cremated.  There will be a celebration of life later.
