Daniel Patrick “Danny” Geraghty Sr., 55, died at his home under the care of Hospice on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016.

He was a native of Queens, N.Y., born Oct. 3, 1961, and the son of the late Francis Earl and Isabelle McLeman Geraghty. He made his career as a truck driver where he earned the nickname of “Road Dog” among his fellow truckers. While living in Davie County, he attended Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors: 6 sons, Danny Geraghry (Alicia), Steven Geraghty, Vincent Geraghty and John Velotta, all of New York, and Thomas Mezic (Courtrey) and Matthew Velotta, both of Mocksville; 2 daughters, Danielle and Stephanie Velotta, both of Mocksville; 2 brothers, Kevin Geraghty (Danny’s twin) and Dennis Geraghty, both of New York; 7 grandchildren; and his 4-legged companions, Appollo and Izzy.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Geraghty, and a niece, Christine Geraghty.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29,at Davie Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life service will follow at 8 p.m. at which time memories will be shared by family and friends.
