William R. Davie Elementary students were surprised on Dec. 14.

Every student got a new pair of Under Armour shoes, courtesy of Rescue House Church.

More than 400 pairs of shoes were given away.

The school is close to the heart of Families Pastor Julie Miller. Miller, along with the Rescue House staff, has coordinated the details to make this event possible.

“Rescue House has a huge heart for the next generation. I’ve seen the need in our community, and even the burden it has placed on teachers to provide for their students,” Miller said. “Because God has blessed our church beyond measure, we believe it should be our response and is our responsibility to be a blessing to others.”

Rescue House, a multi-site church with campuses in Mocksville and Winston-Salem,  was launched in January 2010 by Lead Pastor Matt Hudson and wife Lauren Hudson, with 40 people in attendance. Rescue House Church places a high value on community outreach, and wanted to go above and beyond this Christmas season by partnering with a local elementary school.

A contemporary non-denominational church that exists for one purpose: to see lost people cross from death to life and continue taking steps to follow Jesus. On average, weekend worship experiences reach more than 700 people in the Triad and more through online messages.
