Before Cooleemee Elementary School had early release on Friday, excitement, enthusiasm, anticipation, happiness and singing could be heard and felt in the gymnasium.

Not only were the elves back, but four minions won the teacher’s bed race. Mary Ann Stein read the book, “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” candy canes were being thrown into the crowd, lots of students had on reindeer blinking noses or some had antlers on their head.

It’s fair to say, big smiles were on everyone’s faces.

Principal Cindy Stone, teachers and staff know just how to get things rolling before their students go home to begin their Christmas vacation.
