Betty Jones Cates, 77, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Harmony, died on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016.

A native of Mocksville, she was born on Feb. 7, 1939, a daughter of the late Annie D. and Paul G. Jones. A graduate of Davie High School, she had been employed by Bank of America in Houston, Texas.

Survivors: 2 sons, Brian Cates of Elizabethtown and Brad (Sharon) Cates of Pasadena, Texas; 2 grandchildren, Brandon and Lauren Cates of Pasadena; siblings, Irma Jean Shelton of Advance, Bobby Jones of Mocksville, Shirley Rollins (Harold) of Mocksville, Gerald (Brenda) Jones of Stockbridge, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Jones, and daughter-in-law, Shelly Cates.

A memorial service will be held at Bear Crek Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Dec. 31.
