New members were sworn in recently to the Davie County Board of Education.

Board Chair Chad Fuller said of outgoing board member Carol Livengood, who served on the board 12 and one-half years: “Carol has a compassion for children that is second to none;” and of Steve Ridenhour, who served six and one-half years: “Steve brought a persistence and passion to the board that allowed us to critically examine every decision we made.”

Ridenhour said: “Ninety-nine percent of it has been wonderful. Debate and disagreement – there’s nothing wrong with it. We just have to be civil.”

Livengood thanked the people of Davie County for the opportunity to serve, adding: “It is something I will treasure always. In Davie County, we have our priorities straight: faith, family and a strong work ethic.”

They were presented with plaques before new board members Terry Hale and Dub Potts took the oath and were seated.

Wendy Horne and Paul Drechsler were sworn in to another term each by Judge Jimmy L. Myers.

The board voted to keep Fuller as chair, and Clint Junker as vice chair.
