Congratulations Cooleemee Elementary School for receiving the North Carolina Positive Behavior Intervention Support Initiative for the year 2014 -2015.  What an honor to be recognized for such an exemplary status.

At the school’s curriculum night, parents had a chance to take part in “Take a Walk in Your Child’s Shoes.”

At each classroom door, huge posters with different shoes helped define the purpose of the night.

Parents learned what goes on in their child’s classroom and what the teacher’s expectations are.

Whether it was using an iPad for math problems to help with EOG quotients, or simply helping their child know what a word is, all parents went home with a better idea of how they could help and support their child at home.

Helping the child to predict what will happen in a story, asking questions about the characters and many other ideas were talked about in each class.

Some of the students had sheets of papers that had typed questions for their parents to use when they read together at home.  They cut the questions into strips so they would be ready for use everyday.

To end the night there was pizza for everyone.  All students seemed to be having a good time, including the teachers.
