Mrs. Mary Alice Phifer Dedmon, 81, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at her home.

She was born April 6, 1935, in Rowan County to the late Daniel Boone and Zeldia Bollinger Phifer. Mrs. Dedmon was a 1953 graduate of Cleveland High School. She retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 33 years.  Mrs. Dedmon was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Martha P. Herlocker; and a brother, Paul F. Phifer.

Survivors: her husband, Delano M. Dedmon, who she married on Oct. 27, 1956; a daughter, Sherri Young (Cole) of Concord; a son, Jody M. Dedmon of Wesley Chapel; a sister, Lula P. Allmon of Kannapolis; 3 granddaughters, Hannah, Chaney and Rachel Dedmon; and several nieces, nephews and their families.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 21 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carroll Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Legion Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
