Edith Beck Grubb

  1. Mrs. Edith Beck Grubb, 96, of Becktown Road, Mocksville, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at her home.

    She was born Sept. 30, 1920 in Davie County to the late Charlie Houston and Lydia Seaford Beck. Mrs. Grubb was the oldest member of Jerusalem Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the quilting club. She retired from Monleigh Garment Co. and continued to sew at home for friends.  She and her husband Clifton enjoyed traveling to Florida every winter since 1960.

    She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Woodrow “C.W.” Grubb; a grandson, Mark Grubb; and 4 brothers, Wade, Kenneth, Richard and Clifford Beck.

    Survivors: 4 children, Annette Foster (Paul) of Advance, Carl Grubb (Nevida), Dennis Grubb (Judy) and Gary Grubb (Sandra), all of Mocksville; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Claude Beck (Nancy) of Mocksville; and several nieces and nephews.

    A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18 at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Revs. Donnie Chapman, Jimmy Lancaster and Allen Mullens officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. Friday at the church.
