Mary Lee York Danner

Mrs. Mary Lee York Danner, 94, of Grey Street, Mocksville, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at her home.

She was born April 9, 1922, in Iredell County to the late D.H. and Mary Heath York.Mrs. Danner was a graduate of Harmony High School Class of 1939, where she was the poet laureate and was a graduate of Evans School of Commerce. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.Mrs. Danner enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts, quilting and many other interests.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Howard Conard Danner; a sister, Sarah Bowles; 5 brothers, infant William Taylor York, infant Milburn Hugh York, Paul York, Rex York and Glen York, who lost his life in World War II.

Survivors: 3 daughters, Janice Jones of Salisbury, Patty Livengood of Advance and Phyllis Shoaf (Earl) of Raleigh; 9 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was to be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Dr. Glenn L. Myers Jr. officiating. Burial was to follow in Rose Cemetery. The family was to receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
