Mocksville Rotary members honored

In the Rotary world, September was Basic Education and Literacy Month.

Larry Colborne with the Mebane Foundation shared with members of the Mocksville Rotary Club ways the foundation partners to make a positive difference in the education of students in Davie County, as well as other areas.

Rotary District Gov. Jon Spillman made his official visit and awarded George Martin as the club’s Shining Star and Josh Hanes as the club’s Rising Star.

Chad Brown shared information from Wake Forest Baptist Health Davie Medical Center and the second phase of construction.

Dr. Darrin Hartness shared updates on the new Davie County High School.

Kim McClure, district executive director for the Davie Family YMCA and Yadkin Family YMCA, was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow, which is given in honor of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world.
