Mrs. Ruby Louise Hildebran Thorne, 77, of Mocksville, died on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at her residence, following a period of declining health.

She was born on Feb. 16, 1939 in Catawba County to the late Joseph P. Hildebran and Minnie Young Hildebran. She was a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church. She loved to dance, be in her garden, and most of all, being with her grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Epsie Hildebran Hice and Verlie “Toots” Hildebran Hancock.

Survivors: her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Thorne of the home; daughters, Pamela Foster and husband David of Hickory, and Kristi Sain and husband Wayne of Connelly Springs; brother, Joe Hildebran and wife Dorothy of Hickory; sister, Christine “Teen” Fawcett of Oregan; grandchildren, Heather Baker and husband Ryan of Hickory, Haley Foster of Hickory, Dakota Sain of Connelly Springs, and Taylor Sain of Connelly Springs; great-grandchildren, Alex Nelson, Henry Baker, Rosemarie Baker, and Isaiah Foster; stepchildren, Sandra Thorne, Randy Thorne, and Jeff Thorne; 5 step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, with the Rev. Rick Hudson officiating. The family received friends from 1-2 p.m.
