Larry Wayne James

Larry Wayne “Krazy Kat” James, 62, died on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at his home, following a sudden illness.

He was born in Iredell County on June 29, 1954, son of the late Mack and Louise Gray James. He attended Iredell County Schools, and at an early age, joined Piney Grove AME Zion Church. He had worked at Funder America and ABI Sock Co. before becoming disabled. He loved baseball, drag racing, fishing, making crafts, dancing and gardening.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Herbert James, Harry James, Donnie James, and Aaron James.

Survivors: a son, Cortez Holland; 3 daughters, Tonja James of South Carolina, Tiffany James of Cleveland, and Danica Little of Athens, Ga.; a special friend, Shelia Scott of Mocksville; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Perry (Frankie) James of Mocksville, and Ravon (Liz) James of Hamptonville; 2 sisters, Sadellia (Henry) Gaither of Harmony, and Debra (David) Watkins of Statesville; a sister-in-law, Betty James of Harmony; 2 aunts, Hester James of Harmony and Vivian Imes of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; other relatives and friends.

His funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home in Mocksville. The Rev. Rodney Barker officiated and Elder Michael White delivered the eulogy.  Burial followed in Rose Cemetery.
