Mr. John Harrison Mason Sr., 77, of Mocksville, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at Bermuda Commons in Advance.

He was born Aug. 14, 1939 in Davie County to the late Paul Harrison Mason Jr. and Kate Waters Mason. Mr. Mason loved the outdoors, especially fishing and golfing and playing baseball.

He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Dorothy Mason Smith; and uncle and aunt, Bill and Nancy Mason.

Survivors: his wife, Rotonda Stroud Mason of the home; 8 children, John H. Mason Jr. of Florida, Marvin Paul Mason of Greensboro, Mary Frances Mason of Clemmons, Martha Jane Scott (Jimmy) of Florida, Jonathan Matlock (Stacy) of Mocksville, Jason Hutchens (Carrie) of Yadkinville, Zachary Harrison Mason and Jeremy Motley (Tristan), all of Salisbury; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Marty Foster (Ronnie) and Paul Mickey Mason (Tama), all of Mocksville; an aunt, Martha Brown (Conrad) of Yadkinville; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kent Williard (Gale) of Advance.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Chris Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
