Miss Elma Inez Daywalt, 92, of Sanford Avenue, Mocksville, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born April 5, 1924, in Davie County to the late James McGuire and Carrie Belle Head Daywalt. Miss Daywalt was the oldest living member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. She was retired from Carolina Sportswear. Miss Daywalt enjoyed cooking, canning and quilting.
She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Billy Daywalt and Calvin “R.D.” Daywalt.
Survivors: 2 nieces, Judy Daywalt of Mocksville and Shirley Reavis of Advance; great-niece, Stephanie Whitaker; 2 great-nephews, Eric Campbell and Shane Campbell; great-great nephews, Owen and Ethan Campbell; a sister-in-law, Hazel Daywalt, all of Mocksville; and her special cat, Spunky.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tony Owens officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the funeral home.
