The Davie County Chamber of Commerce announces the theme for the 2016 Hometown Christmas Parade will be “All Fired Up For Christmas” in conjunction with this year’s town ornament, an old fashioned fire truck.

The Hometown Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m.  The parade is a part of a weekend of special events in Historic Downtown Mocksville to launch the holiday season including “Twas The Night Before Bed Race” on Friday, Nov. 18, the lighting of the oaks and the release of the annual town Christmas ornament.

Entry forms for the Christmas parade are available at the chamber office located at 135 S. Salisbury St. in downtown Mocksville or on the chamber website:  www.daviechamber.com/events.

“The Annual Christmas Parade is a wonderful part of the Davie County Christmas traditions,” said Chamber President Carolyn McManamy. “Each year over 100 businesses, church and civic groups, schools and county or town services participate in the parade.

“We also invite all bed race participants to be a part of the parade and show off their decorated beds that raced down Main Street the night before.”

Prizes are awarded to the top three parade entries selected by judges with first place receiving $75, second place receiving $50 and third place receiving $25.
