David Arnold Poteat

Mr. David Arnold Poteat, 77, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

He was born Dec. 11, 1938 in Spencer to the late Lawrence Edward and Ruth Fitzgerald Poteat. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1957 and Catawba College in 1961.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday school class. He was an active volunteer at A Storehouse for Jesus.

He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters, Helen G. Sherrill, Anette Olson, Vivianne Stafford and Linda Walser.

Survivors: his wife of 50 years, Bettie Williams Poteat; a brother, Larry E. Poteat of Roanoke, Va.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Glenn L. Myers Jr.  officiating. Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Eaton Funeral Home.
