Albert Everett Sutphin, 87, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016 at Yadkin Nursing Center.
Mr. Sutphin was born June 21, 1929 in Yadkin County to the late Everett and Luna Cranfill Sutphin. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Sutphin retired from the Winston Salem Fire Dept. after 32 years. He was a member of Courtney Baptist Church.
Survivors: his wife of 34 years, Louella Ponder Sutphin; 2 children, Cindy (Tim) Boyce and Mark (Mary) Sutphin; 2 step-children, Mike and Larry Eads; a grandson, Scottie (Misty) Hill; 2 great-grandchildren, James Scott and Logan Hill; and a sister, Carolyn Boger.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. at Courtney Baptist Church with Dr. Richard H. Capps and Dr. Jimmy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
