Canines are ready buddies at public library

Davie County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, “On Your Mark, Get Set, READ” continues.

On Monday, Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m., the move “Peanuts” will be shown,  a family movie rated G for 89 minutes. This movie lasts a little longer than usual Monday night programming, ending at 8. Families are welcome to bring dinner or movie snacks and drinks, blankets or quilts.

On Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., elementary kids may enjoy a MAD Science workshop titled “Nutri-Mania” about good nutrition. There are only 25 seats available. Contact Miss Julie jwhittaker@daviecountync.gov to reserve a seat. Walk-ins will be considered 10 minutes after the start of the program if seats are unclaimed. At 1:30, upper elementary and middle school youth can enjoy listening to a read-a-loud of “Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Olympics” by Chris Grabenstein.   then Legos and games are available until 3:30.

On Wednesday,  families are invited to bring lunch or snacks at 11 a.m. for Munchin’ at the Movies showing “Hotel Transylvania,”  PG 89 minutes and at 1 p.m. for Snackin’ at the Cinema features  Goosebumps PG, 90 minutes.

Thursday is for Readers Clubs. Ranger is available 11-noon for 15-minute appointments.The Young Adult Readers Club will meet at 2:15-2:45 with Mrs. Archer to discuss “Z for Zachariah,” then watch the movie rated PG13 lasting 95 minutes.

On Friday, Pre-school Story Time is at 11 a.m.

Ranger will be available for 15-minute appointments on Saturday from 11-noon.
