Virginia “Doris” Beam Goforth, 76, of Albemarle, formerly of Spencer, died early Monday morning, June 20, at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood. The Rev. Ron Honeycutt officiated. A graveside service was held at 3:30 p.m. at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell. The family received friends prior to the service at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.

Mrs. Goforth was born Feb. 2, 1940 in Forsyth County to the late Ray Clemmet Beam and Hattie Virginia Julian Beam.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Eugene Goforth and brother, Larry Beam and sister, Brenda Beam.

Survivors: her son, Jeff Smith of Salisbury; daughters, Teresa Smith and Larrie Frank, both of Mocksville, Renee Hildreth of Albemarle, Sherrie Kesler of Rockwell and Carol Stamper of Stanfield; brothers, Don Beam of Florida and Bob Beam of Hickory; sisters, Judy Deal of Hickory, Maxine Pruitt of Harmony and Kathy Meisimer of Hickory; 14 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
