Mabel Myers Markland Watson

Mrs. Mabel Myers Markland Watson, 88, of Advance, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 7, 1928 in Davie County to Alice Novella Beauchamp Myers and Fred Sanford Myers.Mrs. Watson was a member of Elbaville United Methodist Church and sang with her parents at church events for years. She worked many years for Hanes Knitting Co. until the plant closed. She then went to work for Duracell and later at Ken’s Drive-In Restaurant in Winston-Salem, which was owned by her present husband.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Frederick Markland; a son, Alton Frederick Markland; and a sister, Thelma McMahan.
Surviving: her husband, Grady Watson Jr.; 2 daughters, Patricia “Pat” Markland Cope and Angela Markland Bailey (Larry), all of Advance; 6 grandchildren, Brian Bailey (Robin), Kyle Bailey (Angie), Adam Bailey (Desiree), Chad William Markland (Katherine), Brett Frederick Markland and Brooke Ann Markland; 6 great-grandchildren, Ben Bailey, Maddie Bailey, Collin Bailey, Bella Bailey, Lyra Bailey and Beau Martin; and a sister, Mildred Markland.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at Elbaville United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church and after the graveside service in the fellowship hall.
