Band of Oz will be the featured entertainment at the 11th annual Sounds of Summer on June 3 at WinMock.

Band of Oz will take the stage under the big tent on the East Terrace while Chris Fletcher from Triad DJ & Events entertains the guests in the Loft.

Band of Oz now features a full horn section in the eight-member group. They perform more than 200  shows per year for corporate events, festivals, concerts, wedding receptions, and many other public and private events.

“We are excited to have them back for Sounds of Summer,” said Jane Simpson, foundation president. “Our guests feel like they know the band members now and love seeing them once a year for a fantastic summer kick-off.”

For those who enjoy shagging on the Terrace, a new dance floor will be added to keep moves smooth. The ever popular Margaritas will be back and will be featured on the east Terrace after 8 p.m.

Fletcher began his career in 1991. Since then he has expanded by adding a list of professionals to the roster, many of whom have more than 20 years in the business and all who share his passion for customer service. He will mix it up in the Loft and match the music to the crowd.

In addition to music, Sounds of Summer will feature a catered menu including beef tenderloin and shrimp cocktail with homemade cocktail sauce, lobster and crab seafood cakes with remoulade sauce, chicken alfredo, miniature chicken cordon bleu with hollandaise sauce, and other favorites.

Of course no meal is complete without dessert. Miniature cheesecakes and pies along with cupcake shooters will be available. The ticket price also includes beer and wine.

Guests can bid on silent and live auction items. More than 110 silent auction items are available featuring jewelry, duffle bags and spa services; accessories, furniture and art work; sports and show tickets; restaurant gift cards; Fit Bits and other health and fitness items; mountain and beach get aways; Disney Hopper passes; and a gambling trip for two to Atlantic City.

Auctioneer Charlie Crenshaw will be back at the request of last year’s guests. He offers his own brand of entertainment as he auctions the eight live items. With two bracelets, a trip to Greenville, S.C.; a Bahamas Cruise; 4 center court tickets to Carolina basketball;  4 tickets in a “Panther Package”; a NASCAR Experience; and Bull Hole Fishing Excursion, Charlie is sure to be a hit.

Guests who want to support the foundation and its work in Davie County will be invited to make a donation to the Healthy Davie Fund. The Healthy Davie Preschool Project will be spotlighted as the community works together to change the lives of 18 children and their families.

Limited tickets are available. Contact the Davie Community Foundation office at 336-753-6903 or visit www.daviefoundation.org.
