Mrs. Helen Frances Mead, 97, of Mocksville, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

She was born Jan. 27, 1919, in Morris County, N.J., to the late John and Maria Valko Strelec. Mrs. Mead was a Worthy Matron of the Silentia Chapter 56 in Butler, N.J .and a member of the Northern Chapter 38 in Branchfield, N.J.  She was Grand Sentinel of the Grand Chapter of NJ and was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Orville Garrett Mead; and 2 children, Susan Ramos and John Mead.

Survivors: her daughter, Jennie Costanzo (Gary Mills) of Mocksville; 4 grandchildren, Garrett Costanzo (Debbie), Brie-Ann Costanzo, Lauren Mead and Jonathan Mead; 4 great-grandchildren, Jolene, Kaelyn and Alice Corcoran and Francis Fansler; and a daughter in law, Terri Mead.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 25 at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro.
