While lawyers are trying to figure out the next move, Mocksville town officials may have to decide where to come up with $3 million.

The town’s insurance policy through the N.C. League of Municipalities appears to max out at $1 million, said Town Attorney Hank Van Hoy.

While respectful but disappointed in the jury’s verdict against the town, former police chief Robert Cook and Town Manager Christine Bralley, attorneys are looking into the next legal steps, he said.

Bralley declined to comment.
