James “Jim” Harvey Baity, 72, of Mooresville, died on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

He was born on July 4, 1943 in Davie County to the late Roby and Annie Hutchins Baity. He was retired from Country Corner Marine Center. He was a volunteer firefighter, fisherman, and loved being on the water, where he was a fishing guide on Lake Norman.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Rodney Bradford Baity; and brother, Roby Lee Baity.

Survivors: his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Rogers Baity; children, Sharon Baity Robertson, James Harvey Baity Jr.; sisters, Mary Kathryn Baity, Nellie Baity Prim; brother, Jerry Harding Baity; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

The family received friends on Monday, May 9 from 3-4:30 p.m. with a service following at 5 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel.
