NAACP crowns Mother of the Year

Annisa Scott, the 2015 Davie County NAACP Mother of the Year Queen from Mainville  AME Zion Church, crowned Azalee Stockton at the annual event on April 9 at the library.

Mrs. Stockton, the 2016 winner, is a member of Ervin Temple CME Church.

Pastor Nettye IJames Barber of New Jerusalem Apostolic Church was the second runner-up. Nellie Foster of Mainville was the third runner-up followed by minister Valerie Poag of Shiloh Baptist Church.

The Rev. Joe Clark, president, spoke about the importance of making education, housing, employment and social opportunities available to all. He also talked about the purpose of the proceeds which go to help fund the NAACP’s work on the state level for justice and equality.
