Mr. Ira Eugene Jester, 70, of Yadkinville Road, Mocksville, died Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the home of his son.

He was born Feb. 5, 1946, in Forsyth County to the late David Montgomery and Mozell Moser Jester. Mr. Jester was a hard-working man and had worked at Shattalon Motors in Winston-Salem. Mr. Jester was instrumental in fundraisers for Muscular Dystrophy.

He was also preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Gordon Jester; and 3 brothers, Stephen Jester, Harold Montgomery Jester and Curlie Lee Jester.

Survivors: a daughter, Tammy Jester (Mike McBride) of Kernersville; a son, Michael Jester (Joanna) of Statesville; 2 grandchildren, William Tristan Jester and Jenna Newsome; 4 siblings, Ronald Jester (Deanna) of Advance, Norma Jean Joyner (Ronnie) of Mooresville, Inez Parrish (J.R.) and Sybil Joyner, all of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was conducted at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 13 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Barry Brown officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home following the service. Burial was in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in East Bend.
