James Ray Stroud Jr.

Mr. James Ray Stroud, Jr., 76, of Statesville, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Trinity Elms in Clemmons.

He was born Sept. 1, 1939 in Iredell County to the late James Ray Stroud Sr. and Cora Marlowe Stroud. Mr. Stroud attended Harmony High School. He retired from Roadway Express after 32 years and was a dairy farmer. Mr. Stroud was a member of North Main Street Church of Christ where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

He was also preceded in death by: a son, Michael Scott Stroud; and a sister, Peggy Stroud Koontz.

Survivors: his wife, Yvonne Stroud of the home, who he married July 25, 1959; 2 children, Craig Stroud of East Bend and Cynthia Stroud Murray (John) of Huntingtown, Md.; 2 grandsons, John and Winston Murray; a brother, James Kenneth Stroud (Betty); and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23 at Eaton Funeral Chapel in Mocksville with Mark McClannon officiating. Burial followed in Jericho Church of Christ Cemetery.  The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
