MLK events start in Downtown Mocksville

In addition to adopting two families for Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Davie County Branch of the NAACP ended 2015 with its regular, informational meetings.
In October, representatives from Habitat for Humanities, Hope Homes, Social Services and the county manager presented the program.
In November, two administrators and two students shared information about the Early College.
The Annual Martin Luther King. Jr. celebration will begin at noon at the town square on Monday, Jan. 18; it will be followed by a march to Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church, 400 Pine St. The program will begin at 12:30. Skip McCall, former president of the Statesville NAACP branch, will be the speaker.
The Davie County Community Youth Choir, under the direction of Jeanette Johnson, will also be on the program. New singers are invited to join. A rehearsal will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16 at noon at New Bethel Baptist Church, 3727 US 601 South. Anyone with questions about the choir should call 284-2428 after 6 p.m.
