David Morton earns Eagle award

David Braxton Morton,  son of Brack and Beth Morton of Brookmead Court, Advance, received his Eagle Scout award at a  court of honor held Sunday, Oct. 11 at the Ryan Wood Memorial Amphitheater in Clemmons.

He is a sophomore at Davie High School and a member of Boy Scout Troop 700 at Hillsdale United Methodist Church. He was certified by the Boy Scouts of America  National Youth Leadership Training. Morton was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

In July, he attended the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M. when his troop went on the Cavalcade expedition.

For his Eagle project, Morton built nesting boxes for the endangered North Carolina Northern Flying Squirrel for the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission.
