Mary “Joann” Gaither Ratledge, 78, formerly of Godbey Road, Mocksville, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

Born Feb. 7, 1937 in Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Annie Lou Gaither and the widow of the late Jim Ratledge (1931-2011) to whom she was married for 55 years. Mrs. Ratledge was a registered nurse and retired from Autumn Care of Mocksville. She was a lifelong member of New Union United Methodist Church.

Survivors: a special grandson, Calvin Lloyd Scott of the home; 5 other grandchildren, Jason, Jared, Jacob, Kasey and Joanna, all of Mocksville; 2 daughters, Wanda Scott and Teresa Booie, both of Mocksville; and special family and friends, Nora, Sharon, Edward, Johnny, Janice and Bonnie.

A celebration of life service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22 at New Union United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Eric Lineberry.
